Synopsis

From Emmy®-nominated executive producers Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner (Girls), Camping follows a “back to nature” camping weekend thrown by the hyper-organized and aggressively controlling Kathryn (Jennifer Garner) in honor of the 45th birthday of her mild-mannered husband Walt (David Tennant). What should be a relaxing celebration in the wilderness becomes a test of friendships and marriages when Kathryn, her meek sister Carleen (Ione Skye), holier-than-thou ex-best friend Nina-Joy (Janicza Bravo), and free-spirited tagalong Jandice (Juliette Lewis) arrive, along with others, at the campground. Despite (or maybe because of) Kathryn’s best efforts, the weekend morphs into a series of arguments, confessions, animal intrusions, emergency-room visits, and woman-on- woman crime that won’t soon be forgotten. Along for the ride in this darkly funny eight-episode comedy are Walt’s best friend George (Bret Gelman), Nina-Joy’s husband, whose happy-go-lucky façade hides some barely repressed rage; Walt’s recently separated friend Miguel (Arturo Del Puerto), who’s smack dab in the middle of a midlife crisis; and Carleen’s recovering addict boyfriend who’s inching progressively closer to self-destruction.
