Synopsis

Chief Chucky Ribbonleg of Deep Lake First Nation takes sovereignty very seriously. No longer wishing to comply with the arbitrary laws placed by the Canadian government upon his people, Chucky decides to make Deep Lake its own sovereign nation. This decision ripples down to the nation's administrative staff, most notably Monica Leprete, The National Director for the Regional Education Nourishment Centre - also Chucky's no-nonsense sister. Afilm crew documents the bureaucratic nightmare that ensues from the Chief's decision, following an array of characters - including Sarge, the nation's laissez-faire sheriff; Sammy, the liquor-bootlegging border guard; Jill, Monica's energetic assistant and Sarge's partner-in-crime; and Vanessa, the Chief's stone-faced accountant - as they navigate the newly sovereign landscape of Deep Lake First Nation.
