Synopsis

Real-life violin virtuoso Tang Yun portrays a 13-year-old music prodigy and brings authenticity to this sentimental drama about the lad's coming-of-age in 21st-century China amid the country's cultural and economic revolution. Co-written and directed by Chen Kaige, who costars as Prof. Yu Shifeng. Kaige's wife, Chen Hong, is impressive as a glamorous woman for whom Yun falls.
