Synopsis

Abused Ukrainian prostitute Irina (Xenia Rappoport) is placed in more peril than clichéd silent-movie victim Pauline in this lurid thriller about human trafficking, murder and revenge in which she's forced to rescue herself. Ennio Morricone's lush score and director Giuseppe Tornatore's Hitchcockian flourishes add up to a glossy package, but the film's brutal violence and extensive nudity aren't for everyone.
