Synopsis

Best Picture nominee about an American family living in Europe, where they are involved in the anti-Nazi underground movement in Germany, but after they move back to the United States, pro-regime forces locate them and attempt blackmail. The script, based on Lillian Hellman's hit Broadway play, was written by her lover, Dashiell Hammett, who received a Oscar nomination for Best Screenplay.
