George Herman Ruth, "The Bambino," was born on the waterfront streets of Baltimore in 1895. He was signed by the Orioles in 1914 and then sold to the Yankees in 1919. Lifetime stats: .342 batting-average, 714 home runs, 2,213 runs-batted-in, 20 wins as a pitcher and a career ERA of 2.28. He was simply the greatest ballplayer who ever lived.
