Synopsis
Check out the Alaska Marine Highway, a "road" system on the water that's longer than any highway in the U.S. And the M/V Tustumena is one of the few ferries built for Alaska's high seas. Remote coastal towns need it to transport food, freight and people, but when it travels through the Gulf of Alaska, the ship battles 26-foot high waves. A massive flood threatens to shut down the Dalton Highway, the only road in or out of the Prudhoe Bay oilfields. The state could lose millions of dollars in damages. So, the Department of Transportation uses Alaskan ingenuity and a fleet of machines to stop it. Prepare for a heart-stopping climb to the top of giant wind turbines in Alaska's largest wind farm. At Eva Creek, twelve turbines the size of redwood trees with blades as long as an Olympic swimming pool generate enough power to serve about 100,000 residents.
