Swank Makes It A Magical Evening.
Swank sponsored a fun night out for employees and their families on September 9th at The Magic House, a popular not-for-profit children’s museum.
The exciting event started with a quick photo opportunity, followed by a catered, kid-friendly dinner of chicken tenders, corn dogs, veggies, brownies, cookies, and a gourmet macaroni and cheese bar, so families could enjoy a tasty family meal together. Then it was time to explore the hands-on museum, get an intricate face paint design or a creative balloon sculpture.
The Magic House is a St. Louis staple, first opening to the public in 1979 in a quaint 5,500 square foot Victorian mansion. It was founded by two volunteers, Barbie Freund and Jody Newman, and created as the first participatory museum designed just for children. Almost 40 years and several expansions later, the museum now spans 55,000 square feet of exhibits and sees more than 560,00 visitors of all ages each year.
Among hundreds of interactive exhibits, families were able to explore a town made just for kids with a grocery store, veterinarian office, post office and pizza place, complete with a faux stream for catching some magnetized fish. Slides, tunnels, science experiments and lots of coloring rounded out some more of the most popular spots.
Older kids were able to visit some of their favorite features from their youth like touching the giant electrically charged ball for a hair-raising photo opp, creating a three-dimensional impression in a huge wall and cruising down the famous three-story slide. By the time the event ended, both parents and kids were worn out from all of the fun! We look forward to next year’s event at the same spot.
