Show “Amityville: The Awakening” the Same Day As Theaters!

“Amityville: The Awakening” hits theaters on October 28, the same day you can show the title from Swank. This rare opportunity gives colleges across the country a chance to show a brand-new horror movie right before Halloween hits.

A revival of the popular Amityville franchise, this latest movie marks the 10th installment of the main Amityville film series and is a direct sequel to 1979’s “The Amityville Horror.” This is unique because none of the other films are direct sequels to one another. From the producer of “Insidious,” “The Visit” and “The Purge,” this movie starts right where the original left off. And while some of this film’s elements might be familiar to viewers, the new story puts a modern twist on what could otherwise be perceived as classic horror folklore.

This new release stars Bella Thorne, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Jennifer Morrison and Cameron Monaghan. The plot starts off with the 1970’s Defeos murder investigation then flashes forward 40 years to show Thorne and her family experiencing strange paranormal activity when they move into a new home. She suspects her mother (Leigh) isn’t telling her everything, only to realize they’ve actually moved into the infamous Amityville horror house where horrible murders and strange happenings have occurred.

The franchise’s other theatrically released titles, “The Amityville Horror (1979)” “Amityville II: The Possession (1982),” “Amityville 3-D (1983),” and “The Amityville Horror (2005)” have earned a combined total gross of $170 million.
