Favorite thing about the library? I love getting lost in the shelves and aisles, reading various book jackets, titles and chapters until something jumps out and grabs me. That’s how I found Liane Moriarty, and now I must read ANYTHING she writes. I also appreciate the impact the library has on my kiddos. They grew up as summer readers and now, as teenagers, read every day because there is always something new to discover at our library.

Book you’ve read the most times? “The Picture of Dorian Gray” by Oscar Wilde.

Top book or movie quote? “All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players.” – “As You Like It” by William Shakespeare.

Favorite book-to-movie adaption? “No Country for Old Men."

Top tip for programming movies at the library? Surveys! Ask your patrons what they would like to see, what nights work for them, and how much time they have. You can vary programming by also offering a TV series program that only requires around an hour of time for busy families to have a fun break.

Favorite thing about the library? Outside of the wide range of services a library offers, my favorite thing is that libraries help encourage and foster creativity, knowledge, and imagination in all of their patrons – regardless of age. Creating an environment in every community where it is easy to learn new things, to be inspired by the ideas and thoughts of others, to get insight into different cultures, backgrounds and beliefs is an incredible resource.

Book you’ve read the most times? “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” is my favorite book and one I can read over and over again. Douglas Adams’ dry humor and quick wit make his books a delight to revisit.

Top tip for programming movies at the library? The best way to get a program off the ground is consistency. Having a consistent date and time for your movie program can help grow how many patrons attend. Also, tying movies in with existing programs can be a great way to promote movie events. If you already have a successful book club, make the movie program match the book the club is reading, either using the movie adaptation of the book or a film that shares similar themes. This way, attendance is overlapped between the programs and you’ll have a more consistent turnout at your movie programs.

Favorite thing about the library? It is so much more than just a place to borrow books or movies. It provides refuge from the hectic pace of modern life to people of all ages and all walks of life with programs aimed at enriching lives and bringing communities together.

Book you’ve read the most times? “A Room with a View” by E.M. Forster.

Top book or movie quote? “Do I dare disturb the universe? In a minute there is time for decisions and revisions which a minute will reverse.” – “The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock” by T.S. Eliot.

Favorite book-to-movie adaptation? “Pride and Prejudice."

Top tip for programming movies at the library? Include a questionnaire in your patron newsletter that asks what types of movies they most want to see!
