Praise for “The Incredibles 2” Skyrockets

The superhero sequel smashed records, grossing $180 million during opening weekend, and now holds the title of the biggest domestic debut ever for an animated film.

Aimed at kids and adults, this fun, animated superhero flick earned rave reviews after fourteen years of anticipation over the sequel’s release. It also now holds the records for the biggest opening for any movie rated G or PG and the eighth-biggest opening weekend of all time.

Pixar, the studio behind the super successful franchise, is widely known for its strong ability to craft compelling storylines for any age. The highly-regarded studio also has a knack for delving into emotional and complex topics like loss, growing up and disappointment with memorable humor and unforgettable characters. Previous Pixar smash hits like “Finding Nemo,” “Up,” “Toy Story 3,” and “Inside Out” addressed some heavy topics, but managed to successfully explore them with emotional intelligence, beautiful visuals and smart narratives. In fact, the first "Incredibles" movie gently explored grown-up topics like weakness, confidence, self-awareness and inequality to drive home the message that everyone should celebrate what makes them special.

“'The Incredibles 2’ is a practically flawless sequel that stands beside the original, and perhaps even surpasses it.” Dani Di Placido, Forbes.com

However, “The Incredibles 2” takes a lighter approach than its predecessor even though it picks up right where the first film left off. This time, it’s Helen Incredible’s turn to step out and try to repair superheroes’ reputation, leaving her husband, Bob, at home to take care of their temperamental teenage daughter Violet, energetic young son Dash and delightfully mischievous toddler Jack-Jack, who’s superpowers have yet to fully reveal themselves. Stylistic and inventive with smooth cinematography, there’s tons of action sandwiched between familiar family matters and quick comedic quips.

With a Certified Fresh rating of 94% on film review site Rotten Tomatoes, don’t miss what many are calling “one of the most fun movies of the year.” Catch “The Incredibles 2” in theaters now and available from Swank soon.
