“Jurassic World Dominion” is showing no signs of extinction at movie theaters worldwide. The action-adventure Universal Studios’ flick earned a dino-sized $389 million at the international box office and had the fourth-best admissions for a major studio movie’s opening weekend during the pandemic. “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” and “Top Gun: Maverick” claim the top three spots respectively.

“We couldn’t be happier,” said Jim Orr, Universal’s head of domestic distribution. “‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ had a very broad and ridiculously enthusiastic audience.”

This latest film hopes to wrap up the franchise by weaving heroes from the currently trilogy, Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard), with those from the original: favorites Alan (Sam Neill), Ellie (Laura Dern) and Ian (Jeff Goldblum).

“’Dominion’ boasts everything you’d ever want in a ‘Jurassic’ film and is the best in the series since the original 1993 movie.” USA Today

Picking up four years from 2018’s “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom,” Owen and Claire are raising Maisie, a clone from the previous film, in the Sierra Nevada. But when Maisie and dinosaur Beta get kidnapped they venture out to rescue them both. Meanwhile, Ellie, Allan and Ian are investigating a risk of worldwide famine after evolved dino-locusts are damaging Midwest crops. Eventually the two storylines converge, delivering loads of dinosaur appearances, crazy stunts and plenty of globe-trotting adventures.

The PG-13 film, directed by Colin Trevorrow, received an A- CinemaScore from moviegoers as well as a 79 percent approval rating from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.

“Jurassic World Dominion” is playing in theaters now and will be available for licensing from Swank soon.
