Dive into World Oceans Day with Movie Programming
World Oceans Day is June 8. Celebrate this special day in unique and memorable ways using movies! Movies are perfect for creating immersive experiences for guests, and low-effort planning for you and your crew. Here are some of our top ideas for incorporating movies – and ocean-themed events – into your programming for World Oceans Day:
By the Pool
Host an outdoor movie night on the pool deck featuring an ocean-themed movie, such as “Luca” or “The Little Mermaid.” Or, make it a whole day of aquatic cinema with a movie marathon of family-friendly titles.
In the Theater
Offer passengers the opportunity to deepen their understanding with educational seminars and workshops. You can feature topics such as marine biology, ocean conservation or ocean photography. Documentaries are a great way to enhance this type of programming, especially when paired with a post-show Q&A with a marine biologist or other experts in the field.
At the Bar
Create a signature cocktail inspired by the oceans and offer it in your bars and lounges. You could even make a $1 or so of every cocktail sold go to an ocean conservation nonprofit. Make sure to have an on-theme film playing for entertainment as they enjoy sipping their special cocktail, or host an ocean movie themed trivia contest.
In the Kids Area
Host an oceans-themed scavenger hunt so kids can search the ship using clues related to ocean-themed movies. Then, cap off the fun with a screening of the film, or one of the many other family-friendly films that take place under the sea.
In Your Restaurants
Take passengers on a journey through the oceans with their food with a movie-inspired dining experience. Invite guests to enjoy a meal inspired by an ocean-themed movie, such as “Pirates of the Caribbean” or “Moana.” You can have characters inspired by the film walk around while families enjoy their meal, like pirates or Hula dancers.
