“Elemental,” an all-new, original feature film from Disney and Pixar, landed in theaters over the weekend to an estimated $29.5 million. Directed by Peter Sohn, the film received praise for its visual flair and unique concept.
The family-friendly PG-rated film is set in the fictional world of Element City. There, people made of water, trees, clouds or flame coexist – having immigrated in that order. However, fire residents have yet to fully integrate or assimilate into the vibrant metropolis, due to the rampant prejudice against them.
One such resident is a quick-witted and fiery young woman, Ember, who embarks on a transformative journey when she forms an unexpected friendship with Wade, a fun-loving and easygoing water resident. As their budding romance develops, Ember starts to challenge her beliefs about the world they live in.
