‘A Minecraft Movie’ Smashes Records

“A Minecraft Movie” opened to $157 million in North America and a global debut of $301 million, capturing audiences with its blend of family-friendly adventure and wit. Rated PG and helmed by director Jared Hess, the film sets a new benchmark for video game adaptations.

Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment's "A Minecraft Movie" is the biggest film of 2025 so far, raking in $157 million during its North American opening weekend and over $300 million globally. Families flocked to this must-see movie, which currently holds an 87 percent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Director Jared Hess finally brought this decade-long project to theaters with a stellar cast including Jason Momoa, Jack Black, Jennifer Coolidge, Sebastian Eugene Hansen, Emma Myers and Danielle Brooks.
