Synopsis
Janet and the Baker Brothers will eat their way through Taiwan, experiencing various delicious Taiwanese desserts. Their first stop is at Miaoli to visit the special Taiwan dialect group, the Hakkas, to understand their culture and delicacies. They experience the traditional singing and dancing of "Buh-maa jenn", and the making and tasting of the steamed stuffed buns with pork and radish. Then, they go to the Indigo-Workshop in the mountains of Sanyi, where they dye fabrics. Next they are at Taichung where they follow a local pastry master to collect the freshest Tachia taro for the baking of taro cakes, which are later used as the sacrifice for the goddess, Golden Matsu at Jenn Lann Temple. In the afternoon, they visit Kobayashi Cookies, a representative of the traditional cookies in Taiwan and their challenge is to make some of the tile-shaped cookies for themselves. Their third stop is Tainan for the tasting and making of the unique Tainan pastry as well as the enjoyment of mud-spring in Guanziling. Finally, the Baker Brothers and Janet finish off at the Dona Tribe in Maolin, Kaohsiung for the Black Rice Festival. They help to make and of course and savor the indigenous traditional foxtail millet snacks.
