Synopsis

This docu-drama tells the story of Padre Pio, who started life as Francesco Forgione. As a teen, he dedicated his life to God. He is one of the most venerated figures in the modern Catholic church, partly due to the presentation of stigmata (the wounds of Christ), which were investigated by the Holy See. The film covers his early life as fascism rises in post-World War One Italy.
