Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Watchlink?

Watchlink is a streaming link provided for your licensed movie event, eliminating the need for physical media.

Can I use Watchlinks for any movie, or only for Screen Play events?

Currently, watchlinks are available exclusively for Screen Play titles. Click here to browse the full list of available films. However, if you don’t have access to a DVD player or are requesting a film that isn’t available on disc, contact your Account Executive — we may be able to accommodate your event with a Watchlink.

What will I receive, and when will I get my Watchlink?

You’ll receive your Watchlink via email within 2–3 business days of placing your order. For unreleased titles, the link will be sent a few days before the confirmed release date. If you’ve booked a Screen Play event, you’ll also receive a separate email with your link to access the trivia or bingo game and additional resources within one week of booking and again one week prior to the show date.

How does it work?

Watchlinks are emailed directly to you after your order is confirmed. If the movie’s release date hasn’t been finalized, your link will be sent as soon as it is. Once you receive it, just open the link, connect your computer to a projector or screen, and hit play. It’s that simple.

Will the Screen Play Game start automatically with my Watchlink?

No – you’ll need to setup your game first using the link provided on the Screen Play landing page that is emailed to you. Once you’ve entered your event details and created a unique game homepage, start the movie using your Watchlink when the countdown clock on your game homepage hits 00:00:00. That way, the game and movie will be perfectly synced! View the Screen Play How To Video for more information on how to setup the game.

What do I need to screen a movie using a watchlink?

  • A reliable internet connection
  • A computer with an updated version of Safari, Chrome, Edge, or Firefox
  • A screen or projector setup (TV, LED, or monitors)
  • An HDMI cable or USB-C to HDMI adapter

Do I need internet access at the venue?

Yes. A stable wired or wireless internet connection is required to stream the movie.

Can I use any internet browser?

Yes — as long as it’s an updated version of Safari, Chrome, Edge, or Firefox. Click here to view a full list of supported systems and browsers.

Should I test the link in advance?

Yes! We always recommend testing the content in advance — regardless of format — using the exact equipment and setup you plan to use during your event. Even small differences in devices or connections can impact how content plays, so testing ahead of time helps ensure everything runs smoothly.

How many times can I access the watchlink?

Each Watchlink allows for ten clicks — enough for testing and your screening. Need additional access? Contact your Account Executive.
